We will be at the spring Pcola Ren Faire, the 7th annual, on March 1 and 2, 2008.

Our performances are at 10:30 and 1, at the Arabia Tent. It's where the belly dancers are!

The faire runs 10 to 5 both days. $10 admission. $5 for children under 12. (Four year old and younger is free.)

Location is the Pensacola Fair grounds, 6655 Mobile Hwy.

  • Shawn and Sonya were absolutely marvelous! I'm glad I made it just in time to see you perform, because ya'll were great!
    • Thanks! It was a trial by fire and we weren't as smooth as we'd like to be, but we did all right for our first time as a duet! Look for us in the paper tomorrow. Print version maybe, online definitely. The PNJ photographer promised us we'd be there. I just hope he picks a decent shot!

In spite of using sunscreen, I managed to get a slightly pink neck and chest. Real Renaissance English girls didn't have to deal with that kind of sun! I'm a redneck bellydancer! At least I'm not as scorched as I have been in the past!
      • Thank you kindly, Laurie! It WAS a trial by fire for sure, and plenty of sun and wind to go along with it. And I have the sunburned bosom tops to prove it.

I am so excited, though, we did make it in the Pensacola News Journal photo collection, thank you John Blackie. We are the there first in the online photos, which I put here already. Don't know about the printed form yet.

It really was a very nice weekend over all. Michael and I had a wonderful time, we both felt it was our best faire weekend ever. I was in the King's parade, zilling with some drummers, which was fun, we danced for the King, too, during one show. Got to see lots of folks we like, met some new ones, got to know some of the other performers better ( hi to the Daring Douglases, pirates out of Pittsburg) , bought some cool stuff, other than dancing, got to be a bit lazy, catch some shows - love the jousting - do some visiting. Lots of visiting...

I sure appreciate the support we got! Wow, it was really nice. Especially for our 'unveiling' of Tribal Heart the Duo. (oh sure, we have more work to do but, don't you always as dancers?) Thanks so much for that and all the photos and movies taken. We have a pile of stuff to check out for sure. It was so nice to see Alexis (hey Alexis, don't forget to post about your new classes in Mobile!) and her very cute little guy, (I just love his face!) Catherine (thanks again for pictures!), Laurie and her son, and even Candy made it out there, great to see Sarah and Skittle again. Sonya' s parents and inlaws were there, my MIL as well. Tanya came over from Ft Walton too..should have made her dance, and Daniel and his family, John my favorite Zamboni driver (yeah!), and his family, got to chat more with Sandra, new to teaching dance in the area, a bit of visiting with the Zuri girls from Mobile, and my friends in Saraab. It really was a like a weekend long party, without the wine, though.
  • My favorite part of this year's ren faire was when Juanita walked up to Ian to say 'hello' and he turned various shades of red.

Ian: Mom! She sits next to me in English class. She doesn't look like someone who bellydances!
Me: Oh? And your mother does? Would you care to explain?
Ian: NO, NO, NO, NO! I didn't mean it like that. I just had no idea. (and then he turned even more shades of red)

<sigh!> I wonder how much longer I have to occasionally embarass him in public? <insert evil giggle>
